Gasoline Electric Fuel Injection (EFI) Training
March 24–26, 2010
The American Boat Builders & Repairers Association, Inc. (ABBRA) and New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) are pleased to announce a three day, "hands-on" training program designed to engage marine technicians in learning about gasoline electric fuel injection (EFI). The course will cover fuel and electrical EFI component function and testing procedures for GM-based EFI inboard and I/O engines. Sessions will include lectures, demonstrations and training labs. Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to:
- Explain the function of gasoline EFI engine sensors.
- Test engine sensors for resistance, opens, and shorts.
- Test wiring harnesses for resistance, opens, and shorts.
- Make repairs to Metripack and Weatherpack terminals.
- Test high and low pressure fuel pumps.
- Test and diagnose fuel pump electrical systems for faults.
- Explain ECM engine related functions.
A 50-question certification exam will be administered at the conclusion of the training program. Program participants should have at least two years of field experience in the marine industry and should be proficient in reading service manuals and related wiring schematics. Additionally, participants should have general knowledge of electrical basics and be comfortable using digital multimeters.
The class will be held at New England Tech’s Marine Technology Center at the college’s Access Road Campus. The campus is five minutes from the Providence (RI) Airport. Instructors are drawn from leading industry experts and experienced staff from NEIT. Class sizes are limited to fifteen participants to ensure a hands-on experience. The program costs are as follows: ABBRA Members: $795 Nonmembers: $900 Call us at 401-247-0318 to learn more about this offering.
